Samantha ('Sam') Withers is a member of the Class of 2019 at the Episcopal School of Acadiana (ESA). She is an excellent student (4.02 GPA), and is active at many levels at ESA.
She letters in track, soccer, and cross-country, and is very accomplished in all three.
Sam is looking for a challenging college experience. It's too early to tell what she'd like to major in, but she likes math, science, French, and biology.
While she was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Sam is also very well-traveled: in addition to having crisscrossed the United States, she has visited 20 countries on 4 continents.
Samantha began running cross country in the 6th grade, following in the footsteps of her cousin, Kira Miklos, who was a winning high school cross-country athlete in Colorado. She soon found that she had a talent for the sport.
She has been at it now for 6 years, and is getting stronger every year. Currently, she has been the State Champion (Class B) in the sport for 3 of the last 4 years, and is a part of the Cross Country All-State Teams for the last 4 years. Her PR in the 3-mile is 19.02.

Sam started running track in the spring of her 7th grade year. She quickly distinguished herself in the distance events, and by the end of the year had qualified to run the 800m at the LHSAA Track & Field State Meet, where she finished 3rd. That only fueled her fire...
She is currently the 5-time State Champion (Class B) in both the 1600m and 800m and set three PRs in the State Championship meet. She was voted the Outstanding Athlete at the 2015, 2016, and 2018 LHSAA State Meets (Class B). The ESA Girls Track & Field Team has won the LHSAA State Championship each of the last four years (2016-2019).

Samantha's been playing soccer competitively since she was 4 years old. She loves the game, and plays it at a very high level.
At this point in her career, she's played almost every position on the field. Currently, she starts on her varsity team as forward (and occasionally, midfielder or defender). ESA went to the state championship in both 2018 and 2019.
